Tato norma platí pro lineární asynchronní motory s krátkým primárem (LIM) určené pro pohánění kolejových a silničních vozidel. Daná norma platí pro konkrétní konfiguraci LIM, u které je primár namontován buď na tělese vozidla, nebo na podvozcích a sekundár je upevněný na trati, přičemž sekundár je s primárem spojen pouze magnetickým polem. Předmětem této normy je umožnit ověření vlastností LIM a poskytnout základ pro hodnocení jejich vhodnosti pro stanovený průběh zatížení LIM zkouškami a poskytnutí databáze informací pro posouzení vhodnosti LIM pro specifikovaný režim
