Tato evropská norma uvádí charakteristiky korkového linolea dodávaného ve formě návinů. V zájmu podpory informovanosti spotřebitelů při výběru podlahové krytiny, obsahuje tato norma klasifikační systém, založený na intenzitě používání, který uvádí, pro které prostředí by měly být tyto podlahové krytiny vhodné (viz EN 685). Stanoví také požadavky na značení. Pro řadu podlahových krytin se mnohdy nesprávně používá termín ´linoleum´, často pro ty, které jsou na bázi polyvinylchloridu nebo pryže. Takové materiály nejsou v této normě obsaženy
