Tato norma je určena pro odlučovače používané k odlučování lehkých kapalin z odpadních vod. Tuto normu nelze použít k úpravě stabilních emulzí, roztoků lehkých kapalin a vody, tuků a olejů rostlinného a živočišného původu, s výjimkou bionafty. Tato norma poskytuje návod k volbě jmenovité velikosti, jakož i pokyny pro osazení, provoz a údržbu odlučovačů lehkých kapalin podle EN 858-1. Dále též poskytuje doporučení o vhodnosti čisticích prostředků, pokud jsou odváděny do těchto odlučovačů
