Tato norma definuje zkušební postupy pro měření smrštivosti pláště v důsledku tepelné expozice kabelů. První zkušební metoda (F11A) je určena pro kabely, u nichž je vlákno nebo vlákno s ochranným pláštěm a plášť kabelu plně ukončeny v konektoru na jednom nebo obou koncích kabelu. Druhá zkušební metoda (F11B) je určena pro zkoušení smrštivosti pláště pro obecné použití. Referenční pokyn ke zkušebním metodám všech typů a pro obecné požadavky viz IEC 60794-1-2. Norma obsahuje informativní přílohu A, která uvádí porovnání mezi metodou F11A a F11B
