Tato norma popisuje metodu pro gravimetrické stanovení objemové vlhkosti půdy. Metoda je použitelná pro všechny typy půd, které nebobtnají a nesmršťují se a u kterých je možné použít pro odběr vzorků odběrné válečky. Není použitelná pro půdy, u kterých kameny, pevné kořeny nebo jiné okolnosti znemožňují odběr neporušeného vzorku půdy. Tato metoda se používá jako referenční metoda (např. pro kalibraci nepřímých metod pro stanovení vlhkosti)
