Všechna pravidla uvedená v tomto dokumentu jsou vhodná pro jakýkoliv druh výkresu. Tento dokument zavádí pojmy indikátor vlastnosti, rozvinutá délka, vymezení, indikátor povrchu, specifická poznámka a textová instrukce. Tento dokument se nevztahuje na užívání tolerancí rozměrů a určení jejich významu. Zásady tolerování uvádí ISO 14405-1
