Tato norma specifikuje metodu přípravy methylesterů mastných kyselin.
Zahrnuje metody pro přípravu methylesterů mastných kyselin z živočišných a rostlinných tuků a olejů, mastných kyselin a solí mastných kyselin. Za účelem pokrytí různých požadavků, jsou specifikovány čtyři metody methylace, a to:
- a) "rychlý" postup transmethylace za bazických podmínek;
- b) "obecný" postup transmethylace/methylace za postupných bazických a kyselých podmínek;
- c) postup transmethylace/methylace fluoridu boritého (BF3);
- d) alternativní postup transmethylace glyceridů pomocí kyselé katalýzy.
Takto připravené methylestery se použijí v různých analytických postupech, vyžadujících takovéto deriváty, např. plynovo-kapalinová chromatografie (GLC), tenkovrstvá chromatografie (TLC) a infračervená spektrometrie (IR).
