Tato část ISO 13935 uvádí postupy pro zjišťování maximální síly při přetrhu švu u šitých švů, kdy je síla aplikována kolmo ke švu. Norma popisuje metodu známou jako metoda Grab. Tato metoda platí zejména pro tkaniny, včetně těch, které vykazují elastické vlastnosti způsobené obsahem elastomerních vláken, mechanickou nebo chemickou úpravou. Metoda se může použít i pro plošné textilie vyrobené jinými technikami. Obvykle není použitelná pro geotextilie, netkané textilie, povrstvené plošné textilie, tkaniny ze skleněných vláken, a pro plošné textilie vyrobené z uhlíkových vláken nebo z polyolefinových pásků. Tato metoda platí pouze pro rovné švy a nikoli pro zakřivené švy. Pro tuto zkoušku lze použít pouze zkušební přístroj s konstantním přírůstkem prodloužení (CRE)
