Norma stanoví metodu pro zjišťování množství odštěpitelného formaldehydu z textilií v jakékoli formě za urychlených podmínek pro skladování metodou absorpce vodní parou. Tento postup je určen pro stanovení odštěpitelného formaldehydu obsaženého v textiliích v rozsahu od 20 mg/kg do 3 500 mg/kg, pokud se provádí podle této metody. Spodní hranice je 20 mg/kg. Pod touto hranicí se výsledek uvede jako "nezjistitelný". Metoda pro zjišťování volného formaldehydu a formaldehydu částečně extrahovaného hydrolýzou ve vodném roztoku je uvedena v ČSN EN ISO 14184-1
