Tato mezinárodní norma uvádí postupy pro použití zkoušení akustickou emisí a následné zkoušení ultrazvukem v průběhu periodické kontroly a zkoušení bezešvých ocelových lahví a velkoobjemových lahví na stlačené a zkapalněné plyny s vodním objemem do 3 000 litrů. Toto zkoušení poskytuje indikace a lokalizace zdrojů akustické emise, které se vyhodnocují zkouškou ultrazvukem z hlediska možné vady na lahvi nebo na velkoobjemové lahvi. Jiné metody než zkoušení ultrazvukem pro sekundární přezkoušení nejsou předmětem této mezinárodní normy. Tato mezinárodní norma neplatí pro kompozitové lahve
