Tato norma definuje postup vyhodnocení, který slouží k porovnání dvou metod určených ke kvantifikaci stejné sledované skupiny nebo druhu mikroorganismů, jejichž charakteristiky výkonnosti jsou stanoveny podle ISO/TR 13843. Tato norma poskytuje matematický základ pro vyhodnocení průměrné relativní výkonnosti dvou kvantitativních metod z hlediska zvoleného kritéria pro porovnání. Neuvádí údaje pro odhad preciznosti porovnávaných metod. Je vhodné, aby preciznost metod byla stanovena jako součást charakterizace jejich výkonnosti
