Norma je českou verzí evropské normy EN ISO 20847:2004. Norma popisuje metodu zkoušení energiově-disperzní rentgenovou fluorescencí (EDXRF)*) pro stanovení obsahu síry v automobilových benzinech, včetně těch, s obsahem kyslíku do 2,7 % (m/m) a motorových naft, včetně těch s obsahem methylesterů mastných kyselin (FAME) do 5 % (V/V), které mají obsah síry v rozmezí od 30 mg/kg do 500 mg/kg. Uvádí odkazy na ISO a EN normy. V normě jsou uvedena používané chemikálie, přístroje, odběr vzorků, příprava kalibračních standardů, postup, vyjádření výsledků a shodnost a dále postup pro zkoušení vzorků v obsahem síry menších než 100 mg/kg.
