Tato norma stanovuje nedestruktivní metodu stanovení tloušťky anodických oxidových povlaků na hliníku a jeho slitinách pomocí mikroskopu s děleným svazkem paprsků. Tato provozní metoda je vhodná pro většinu případů anodických oxidových povlaků nad 10 _m, nebo nad 5 _m, pokud je povrch hladký. Použití specifikované metody je omezeno potřebou viditelnosti dvou světelných paprsků a jejich zřetelného oddělení, tj. použití není možné v případě neprůhledných nebo tmavých barvených povlaků
