Tato norma specifikuje metodu pro stanovení vybraných polybromovaných difenyletherů (PBDE) v sedimentech a kalech plynovou chromatografií s hmotnostně spektrometrickou detekcí (GC-MS) s ionizací nárazem elektronů (EI) nebo s negativní chemickou ionizací (NCI). Při použití GC-EI-MS je tato metoda použitelná pro vzorky obsahující 0,05 _g/kg až 25 _g/kg tetra- až oktabromovaných kongenerů a 0,3 _g/kg až 100 _g/kg dekabromdifenyletheru (BDE-209). Při použití GC-NCI-MS je možné stanovit přibližně desetkrát nižší koncentrace. Riziko nesprávné interpretace rušivých látek je menší u EI vzhledem k větší specifičnosti. Podle této normy je možné analyzovat také další bromované difenylethery po dostatečné validaci v každém jednotlivém případě. .
