Norma specifikuje metodu stanovení odolnosti nátěru proti vrypům vytvořeným zatíženým rydlem, obvykle ručně ovládaným. Zkoušku lze provádět s použitím rydla s hrotem (metoda A) nebo rydla s kolečkem (metoda B). Obě metody jsou obecně použitelné a lze je používat v terénu, jakož i na zakřiveném povrchu. Metodu A lze používat i na malých zkušebních vzorcích (o rozměrech nejméně 30 mm × 50 mm)
