V1.2.1 Tato norma platí pro rádiová zařízení definovaná v EN 301 783-1. Je určena k pokrytí ustanovení Směrnice 1999/5/EC (Směrnice R&TTE), která stanoví, že "...rádiová zařízení musí být konstruována tak, aby efektivně využívala spektrum přidělené zemským/kosmickým radiokomunikacím a technickým prostředkům umístěným na oběžné dráze, aby se zabránilo škodlivému rušení". Navíc k této normě mohou platit pro zařízení v rozsahu platnosti této normy i jiné EN, které specifikují technické požadavky v souvislosti se základními požadavky podle jiných částí článku 3 Směrnice R&TTE
