Popsaná metoda je použitelná pro stanovení benzenu, methylbenzenu (toluenu), dimethylbenzenů (xylenů) a ethylbenzenu (dále zkratka BTX) v homogenních vzorcích vody a odpadní vody v koncentracích nad 2 g/l. Ve vzorcích, které jsou organicky znečištěny, může být mez stanovitelnosti vyšší, v závislosti na matrici vzorku. Vysoké koncentrace mohou být stanoveny po zředění vzorku. Touto metodou je možné stanovit několik dalších derivátů a nepolárních látek s podobnými fyzikálními vlastnostmi. Použitelnost této metody pro jednotlivý vzorek vody má být ověřena
