Tato mezinárodní norma specifikuje referenční metodu pro stanovení obsahu močoviny v mléce. Postup spočívá v přidání enzymu ureázy, která ve vzorku štěpí močovinu na amoniak a oxid uhličitý. Změna pH, která je vyvolána reakcí mezi vzniklými složkami se měří diferenciálním pH metrem, jako funkce obsahu močoviny původně přítomné ve vzorku mléka.
