Norma obsahuje ISO 5238-2:1983. Tato část ISO 5238 stanovuje druhy vinutí používané při vytváření návinů a podobných výrobků (např. páskových sítí, pramenů) na dutinky a jiné podklady. Lze ji použít na přádelnické, skací a soukací stroje a ostatní stroje se soukacím ústrojím. Všechny druhy vinutí vycházejí z kombinace rotačního pohybu samotného návinu a pohybu niti vzhledem k ose návinu. Poznámka: Kromě termínů ve třech oficiálních jazycích ISO (anglickém, francouzském a ruském) obsahuje tato část ISO 5238 také ekvivalentní termíny v německém jazyce.
