Tato norma specifikuje metody odběru vzorků instantního čaje v pevném stavu (dále uváděno jako "instantní čaj"). Vztahuje se na odběr vzorků z obalů všech velikostí. Jednotlivé metody popisují odběr vzorků v bodě zpracování, v následných stádiích distribučního řetězce i odběr vzorků drobného (maloobchodního) balení. Kromě uvedených postupů odběru vzorků jsou dále specifikovány další postupy, zejména z hlediska, zda je vzorek určen ke zkoušení jakostních znaků souvisejících se strukturou (například hustota, sypkost nebo velikost částic) nebo složením (například obsah vlhkosti nebo popela).
