Norma je identická s ISO 7565:1993. Určuje metody a přístroje pro měření charakteristik čtecích přístrojů. Tyto charakteristiky stanoví (ČSN) ISO 6198. Využívá se jich pro měření zvětšení, rozlišení, zkreslení, jasu stínítka, kontrastu stínítka a teplot filmové dráhy.
