Předpokladem širokého účinného využití mezinárodních norem geografické informace vytvářených v řadě ISO 19100 je jejich jednotná terminologie. ISO/TC 211 proto založila na Internetu terminologické úložiště zahrnující více než pět set termínů a definic pocházejících z jednatřiceti norem uvedené řady vydaných do konce roku 2008. Český překlad jmenovaného dokumentu vydaný jako předběžná norma uvádí ve své slovníkové části jednak termíny a definice stanovené v již vydaných osmnácti normách řady ČSN ISO 19100, a jednak nově navržené termíny a definice přináležející do zbylých třinácti dosud v české verzi nevydaných norem zmíněné řady. Obsahuje rovněž český překlad důležitých zásad pro terminologickou práci v dané oblasti
