IEC 60879:2019 specifies the performance-measuring methods of comfort fans and regulators for household and similar purposes, including conventional fans, tower fans and bladeless fans, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase fans and 480 V for other fans, and their rated power input being less than 125 W. According to the testing method, the comfort fans are classified into two groups: – pedestal fans, table fans, wall fans, louvre fans, tower fans, bladeless fans; – ceiling fans. Wherever applicable, the term "fan" used in this document includes its associated regulator, if any. This document does not apply to: – safety of electric fans for household and similar purposes (IEC 60335-2-80); – performance of ventilating fans (IEC 60665); – electromagnetic compatibility of fans (CISPR 14-1 and CISPR 14-2, IEC 61000-3-2, IEC 61000-3-3). This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1986. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) the definitions of fans have been revised; b) the test methods for the different types of fans have been revised to allow modern test instrumentation to be used; c) acoustic noise measurement and standby power measurement methods have been introduced. LIEC 60879:2019 specifie les methodes de mesure de laptitude a la fonction des ventilateurs de confort et des regulateurs de vitesse pour applications domestiques et analogues, notamment les ventilateurs conventionnels, les ventilateurs a colonne et les ventilateurs sans pales, presentant une tension assignee inferieure ou egale a 250 V pour les ventilateurs monophases et inferieure ou egale a 480 V pour les autres ventilateurs, ainsi quune puissance absorbee nominale inferieure a 125 W. Selon la methode dessai, les ventilateurs de confort se classent en deux groupes: – ventilateurs sur pied, ventilateurs de table, ventilateurs muraux, ventilateurs rotatifs, ventilateurs a colonne, ventilateurs sans pales; – ventilateurs de plafond. Lorsquil y a lieu, le terme "ventilateur" employe dans le present document couvre egalement son regulateur (si le ventilateur en est equipe dun). Le present document ne sapplique pas a: – la securite des ventilateurs electriques pour applications domestiques et analogues (IEC 60335-2-80); – laptitude a la fonction des aerateurs (IEC 60665); – la compatibilite electromagnetique des ventilateurs (CISPR 14-1 et CISPR 14-2, IEC 61000-3-2, IEC 61000 3-3). Cette deuxieme edition annule et remplace la premiere edition parue en 1986. Cette edition constitue une revision technique. Cette edition comprend les modifications techniques majeures suivantes par rapport a ledition precedente: a) les definitions des ventilateurs ont ete revisees; b) les methodes dessai des differents types de ventilateurs ont ete revisees afin de permettre lemploi dappareils de mesure modernes; c) des methodes de mesure ont ete ajoutees pour les mesurages du bruit acoustique et de la consommation delectricite.
