This IRS defines the criteria and the UIC methodology for the ETCS emergency brake valves acceptance. This IRS contains the general conditions to be met by the ETCS emergency brake valves for compatibility with the Lambda model in the SRS for ETCS baseline 3. The ETCS emergency brake valves vent the main brake pipe in the event of an emergency brake intervention by ETCS. This IRS describes the main brake pipe venting performance requirements that apply when the ETCS emergency brake valves installed on the rolling stock are activated. It describes the test methods used and the pass/fail criteria defined. If the pass/fail criteria are not respected, correction factors for the ETCS parameters can be used under certain conditions to adjust the EBI curves according to the train characteristics.
