The International Union of Railways (UIC) develops and distributes International Railway Solutions (IRSs) in order to help railway stakeholders achieve further harmonisation and collaboration.

This ambitious project involves rigorous compliance with quality procedures and rules in the production of documentation. These requirements primarily concern the UIC working groups, especially during the drafting of IRSs.

This IRS sets out the measures to be taken to improve track circuit shunting sensitivity.

This IRS replaces UIC Leaflet 737-2 "Measure to be taken to improve track circuit shunting sensitivity" and sets out to specify in general terms, design strategies employed, and some factors requiring consideration when planning for the deployment of axle counting systems.

The UIC Signalling Expert Group (SEG) has executed the work, which is a permanent expert group of the UIC RSF Telecom & Signalling sector.
