Dieser Teil von IEC 60143 behandelt Schutzeinrichtungen für Reihenkondensatorbänke mit einer Leistung über 10 Mvar je Phase. Eine Schutzeinrichtung ist definiert als Hauptstromkreis- und Zusatzgerät, die Teile einer Reihenkondensatoranlage sind, sich aber außerhalb des Kondensatorteiles selbst befinden. Die Empfehlungen für den Kondensatorteil werden in IEC 60143-1:2004 angegeben. Die Schutzeinrichtungen werden in Abschnitt 3 und IEC 60143-1:2004,10.6 erwähnt.
