Dieser Teil von IEC 60317 legt Anforderungen an einen lackisolierten Runddraht aus Kupfer, Klasse 220, mit einer Grundlackschicht auf Basis von Polyamidimid-Harz fest, das modifiziert sein kann, vorausgesetzt, es behält seine chemische Basis und erfüllt alle festgelegten technischen Lieferbedingungen. Klasse 220 ist eine thermische Klasse, für die ein Temperaturindex von mindestens 220 und eine Temperatur für den Wärmeschock von mindestens 240 °C erforderlich sind. Die Temperatur in °C, die dem Temperaturindex entspricht, ist nicht notwendigerweise diejenige Temperatur, die als Gebrauchstemperatur des Drahtes empfohlen wird, da diese Temperatur von vielen Einflüssen abhängt einschließlich der Art des Betriebsmittels. Der Nenndurchmesserbereich der in dieser Norm behandelten Drähte beträgt: - Grad 1: 0,071 mm bis einschließlich 1,600 mm; - Grad 2: 0,071 mm bis einschließlich 1,600 mm. Die Nenndurchmesser sind in IEC 60317-0-1, Abschnitt 4, festgelegt.
