Dieser Teil der IEC 60898 gilt für Wechselstrom-Leitungsschutzschalter für die Betätigung bei 50 Hz, 60 Hz oder 50/60 Hz mit einer Bemessungsspannung nicht über 440 V (zwischen den Phasen), einem Bemessungsstrom nicht über 125 A und einem Bemessungsschaltvermögen nicht über 25 000 A. Sie stimmt, soweit möglich, mit den Anforderungen nach IEC 60947-2 überein. Diese Norm gilt auch für Leitungsschutzschalter mit mehr als einem Bemessungsstrom, vorausgesetzt, dass die Einrichtung zum Umstellen von einem festen Bemessungsstrom zu einem anderen während des bestimmungsgemäßen Betriebs nicht zugänglich ist und dass der Bemessungsstrom nicht ohne Werkzeug geändert werden kann. Diese Norm gilt nicht für: - Leitungsschutzschalter, die zum Schutz von Motoren bestimmt sind; - Leitungsschutzschalter mit einstellbarem Strombereich, deren Einstellvorrichtung dem Anwender zugänglich ist.
