Dieser Teil von IEC 60034 legt Prüfverfahren und ein Interpolationsverfahren zur Bestimmung der Verluste und der Wirkungsgrade von umrichtergespeisten Motoren fest. Der Motor ist dann Teil eines frequenzvariablen Antriebssystems (PDS) wie in IEC 61800-9-2 definiert. Bei der Anwendung des Konzepts des vergleichbaren Umrichters ist der nach diesem Dokument bestimmte Motorwirkungsgrad nur für den Vergleich unterschiedlicher Auslegungen von Niederspannungsmotoren anwendbar. Der Ansatz mit dem vergleichbaren Umrichter ist nicht für Mittelspannungsmotoren anwendbar.
