Dieses Dokument legt zusätzliche Anforderungen für die Konstruktion, den Aufbau und die Prüfung von berührungslos wirkenden Schutzeinrichtungen (BWS) fest, die speziell zur Detektion von Personen oder Teilen von Personen als Teil eines sicherheitsbezogenen Systems entworfen sind und die aktive optoelektronische diffuse Reflexion nutzende Schutzeinrichtungen (AOPDDRs) für die Sensorfunktion verwenden. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit wird auf Anforderungen gelenkt, die sicherstellen, dass eine ausreichende sicherheitsbezogene Leistungsfähigkeit erreicht wird. Eine BWS kann zusätzliche sicherheitsbezogene Funktionen enthalten, für die die Anforderungen sowohl im Anhang A dieses Dokuments als auch in IEC 61496-1:2020, Anhang A, aufgeführt sind.
