Dieser Teil von IEC 61800 legt Anforderungen an die elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit (EMV) für drehzahlveränderbare Antriebssysteme (en: power drive systems, PDS) und Werkzeugmaschinen (en: machine tools, MT) fest. Ein PDS ist ein Wechsel- oder Gleichstrommotorantrieb mit elektronischem Stromrichter. Die Anforderungen sind für Wechselstrom- und Gleichstrom- PDS und -MT mit Eingangs- und/oder Ausgangsspannungen (Außenleiterspannung) von bis zu 35 kV AC RMS angegeben. Dieses Dokument ist anwendbar für Geräte aller Bemessungsleistungen. Als Produkt-EMV-Norm kann dieses Dokument zur Bewertung von PDS und MT verwendet werden. Es kann auch zur Bewertung vollständiger Antriebsmodule (en: complete drive module, CDM) oder Antriebsgrundmodule (en: basic drive module, BDM) verwendet werden.
