Diese Internationale Norm ist für Wechselspannungs-Kondensatorbänken im Niederspannungsbereich anwendbar, die zur Korrektur des Leistungsfaktors eingesetzt werden sollen und gegebenenfalls mit einer eingebauten Schaltanlage oder einem eingebauten Schaltgerät ausgestattet sind, mit der (dem) die Kondensatorbank an das Netz geschaltet oder vom Netz getrennt werden kann, um den Leistungsfaktor des Netzes zu korrigieren. Wenn es im folgenden Text nicht anders angegeben ist und soweit zutreffend entsprechen Korrekturbänke für den Leistungsfaktor im Niederspannungsbereich den Anforderungen von IEC 61439-1 und IEC 61439-2.
