Dieser Teil von IEC 62840 enthält die Sicherheitsanforderungen an ein Batteriewechselsystem beim Austausch von austauschbaren Batteriesystemen (SBS) / handgehaltenen austauschbaren Batteriesystemen (HBS) von Elektrofahrzeugen. Das Batteriewechselsystem ist zum Anschluss an das Stromversorgungsnetz vorgesehen. Nach IEC 60038 kann die Stromversorgung bis 1 000 V Wechselspannung oder bis 1 500 V Gleichspannung betragen. Dieses Dokument ist auch für Batteriewechselsysteme, die von Speichersystemen vor Ort versorgt werden (z. B. von Pufferbatterien) anzuwenden.
