Fahrzeuge von Stadt- und Straßenbahnen, U-Bahnen, Vorortbahnen, Regionalbahnen, Hochgeschwindigkeitsbahnen, Lokomotiven) installiert sind. Brennstoffzellen-Energiesysteme, die in diesem Dokument festgelegt sind, werden für die Traktionskraft und die Hilfsversorgung von Bahnfahrzeugen wie Hybridfahrzeugen und im Bedarfsfall als Leistungsquelle verwendet. Dieses Dokument ist für die Brennstoffzellentechnologie anzuwenden, die als Protonen-Austausch-Membran-Brennstoffzelle (PEMFC) bezeichnet wird und bei der Wasserstoff als Brennstoffquelle und Luft als Oxidationsmittelquelle verwendet wird. Dieses Dokument ist nicht für Wasserstoff-Speichersysteme anzuwenden, die in IEC 63341-2 festgelegt sind, da HFS nicht in den Anwendungsbereich dieses Dokuments fallen.
