Diese Norm ist eine Übersetzung des entsprechenden Abschnittes aus der Gesamtausgabe der "Internationalen Dezimalklassifikation", der bisher nur in englischer Sprache in verschiedenen "Ergänzungen und Verbesserungen zur DK" und als Britische Norm BS 1000(5/50) : 1983 publiziert wurde. Es handelt sich um systematische Tafeln mit Notationen zu den Themen Natur, Naturstudium und Naturschutz sowie Umweltwissenschaften und Umweltkunde. Diese Notationen sind zusätzlich durch ein alphabetisches Stichwortverzeichnis erfaßt und dienen zur Inhaltserschließung nach der DK von Dokumenten aus diesen Sachgebieten.
