Diese ÖNORM stellt bereits zu Beginn der Konzeptions- und Planungsphase Festlegungen und Vorgaben zur Datenübergabe und Datenweiterführung für den nachfolgenden auf dem Building Information Modeling (BIM) basierenden Planungsprozess für den Objektbetrieb sicher. Diese ÖNORM legt Vorgaben für den Datenaustausch über den gesamten Lebenszyklus aus BIM basierenden Planungsprozessen gemäß ÖNORM A 6241-1 und ÖNORM A 6241-2 fest, unabhängig davon, ob dieser Datenaustausch gemäß diesen ÖNORMEN stattfindet. Die vorliegende ÖNORM gilt für alle Modellformen von BIM, sie unterscheidet z. B. nicht zwischen Open BIM und Closed BIM.
