Diese ÖNORM dient als allgemeine Grundlage für die Planung und Ausführung von Kanalisationsanlagen wie auch für die Ausarbeitung oder Überarbeitung von Produktnormen im Sinne der ÖNORM EN 476. Straßenabläufe und Blindschächte sind nicht Gegenstand dieser ÖNORM.
