Dieses Dokument legt Benennungen und Kurzzeichen für die Bezeichnung und Kennzeichnung von Holzarten fest und dient zur Information zu Kennwerten wichtiger Handelshölzer. Die Kennwerte für Festigkeiten und Module gemäß Tabelle 2 bis Tabelle 14 beziehen sich auf fehlerfreies Holz und können nicht unmittelbar auf Bauholz übertragen werden. Hier ist der Einfluss von Wuchseigenschaften und Holzmerkmalen wie Astigkeit, Astgrößen, Neigung der Holzfaser usw. besonders zu berücksichtigen. Nicht Gegenstand dieses Dokuments sind tragende Bauteile (Holztragwerke) baulicher Anlagen. Für die Bemessung wird auf die Materialkennwerte der ÖNORM EN 1995-1-1 (Eurocode 5) hingewiesen.
