Diese ÖNORM legt auf Grund der speziellen geografischen, topografischen und klimatischen Verhältnisse, die in Österreich herrschen, nationale Anforderungen an Splittmastixasphalt für die Verwendung beim Bau von Straßen, Flugplätzen und sonstigen Verkehrsflächen, entsprechend der ÖNORM EN 13108-5, ÖNORM EN 13108-20 und ÖNORM EN 13108-21, fest. Die vorliegende ÖNORM ist gemeinsam mit diesen ÖNORMEN anzuwenden. Um die Belastungssituation in Österreich abdecken zu können, werden verschiedene Mischguttypen, bezogen auf die Mischgutzusammensetzung und Anforderungen an die Gesteinskörnungen, definiert. Diese ÖNORM setzt gebrauchsverhaltensorientierte Anforderungen der ÖNORM EN 13108-5 um und ist für besonders beanspruchte Asphaltschichten (z. B. auf Grund hoher Verkehrsbelastung bzw. Temperaturbeanspruchung) heranzuziehen.
