Diese ÖNORM beschreibt die Prüfungen, die zur Bestimmung der Frostsicherheit von natürlichen Gemischen im eingebauten Zustand für ungebundene untere und obere Tragschichten im Straßen- und Flugplatzbau erforderlich sind. Auf Körnungen, die vollständig oder teilweise aus Recyclingbaustoffen bestehen, die nicht natürlichen Ursprungs sind und/oder industriell verändert wurden (Beton, Asphalt, Ziegelsplitt), sind 6.2 und 7 dieser ÖNORM nicht anwendbar. Für spezielle Fragestellungen (z. B. allgemeine geologische Fragestellungen, Deponiebau) kann die Tonmineralbestimmung auch an anderen Korngrößen durchgeführt werden.
