Die vorliegende ÖNORM bezieht sich auf Instandhaltungsarbeiten an Fenstern, Fenstertüren, Außentüren und deren Kombinationen im Hochbau, in der Folge kurz "Fenster" genannt, unabhängig von Werkstoff, Konstruktion und Einbau. Diese ÖNORM enthält Kriterien für die Beurteilung des Fensterzustandes sowie Hinweise und Vorgaben für die Durchführung von Instandhaltungsmaßnahmen und für die Veranlassung von Instandsetzungsmaßnahmen. Für die Protokollierung des Fensterzustandes wird empfohlen, das zu dieser ÖNORM veröffentlichte Formblatt zu verwenden. Die Instandhaltung ist Bestandteil dieser ÖNORM. Die Instandsetzung und die Wartung von Abschlüssen (zB Rollläden, Jalousien, Insektenschutz) sowie die allgemeine Reinigung der Fenster (Glas und Rahmen) ist nicht Thema dieser ÖNORM.
