Diese ÖNORM gilt für die Bewässerung von öffentlichen und privaten Vegetationsflächen im Freien und dient als Grundlage für die Berechnung der Wassermenge sowie der zeitlichen Verteilung der Ausbringung. Ausgenommen sind zusammenhängende Rasenflächen mit einem Ausmaß von mehr als 1 ha gemäß ÖNORM EN 12484 (alle Teile). Weiters ausgenommen sind land- und forstwirtschaftlich genutzte Flächen, Sportplätze nach ÖNORM B 2606-1 sowie Golfplätze nach ÖNORM L 1132 und ÖNORM L 1134 und Produktionsflächen für Pflanzen oder Pflanzenteile (z. B. Baumschulen, Gärtnereien). Nicht Gegenstand der vorliegenden ÖNORM sind Dünge- und Pflanzenschutzmaßnahmen im Zuge der Bewässerung.
