Diese ÖNORM beschreibt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Chrom(VI) in natürlichen Wässern und Abwässern in Massenkonzentrationen von 0,05 mg/l bis 3 mg/l. Dabei muß alles Chrom(VI) gelöst vorliegen, was in der Regel der Fall ist. Chrom(VI) oxidiert 1,5-Diphenylcarbazid zu 1,5-Diphenylcarbazon, das mit Chrom einen rotviolett gefärbten Komplex bildet. Das spektrale Absorptionsmaß des Farbstoffes steht in linearer Beziehung zur Chrom(VI)-Konzentration und wird bei 550 nm gemessen.
