Diese ÖNORM legt die Anforderungen für die Aufstellung von ortsfest betriebenen Dampf- oder Heißwasserkesseln (in der Folge kurz żKesselż genannt) gemäß § 3 Druckgerätegesetz fest. Ausgenommen sind Kessel, die während des Betriebes ortsveränderlich sind, z. B. Dampfkessel für den Antrieb von Fahrzeugen. Diese ÖNORM regelt nicht das In-Verkehr-Bringen von Dampfkesseln im Sinne der Dualen Druckgeräteverordnung ż DDGV. Diese ÖNORM behandelt nicht die Aspekte, die durch gegenseitige Beeinflussung von Anlagen oder Anlagenteilen, die nicht zur Kesselanlage gehören, entstehen können. Diese sind gesondert zu betrachten.
