Die ÖNORM enthält Festlegungen zum Nachweis von Ölderivaten in Rauchgasen aus der Verfeuerung von Heizöl extra leicht nach ÖNORM C 1109 und Heizöl leicht nach ÖNORM C 1108. Der Nachweis von Ölderivaten in Rauchgasen dient zur Kontrolle von Ölfeuerungen. Bei nicht vollkommener Verbrennung des Heizöls können die Rauchgase Ölderivate mit sich führen. Falls diese in den Rauchgasen enthalten sind, können sie nach dem Austritt aus dem Rauchfang zu Geruchsbelästigungen in der Umgebung führen.
