Dieser Teil der ÖNORM M 8127 befasst sich mit Grundlagen, Prüfgerät und -aufbau, um das Geräuschverhalten von Wälzlagerfetten nach ÖNORM M 8127-2 und -3 zu ermitteln und zu beurteilen. Diese ÖNORM gilt für Wälzlagerfette, dies sind speziell für die Schmierung von Wälzlagern hergestellte Fette der NLGI-Klassen 1 bis 3 gemäß DIN 51818. Die Fettgeräuschprüfung nach dieser ÖNORM erlaubt den Fettherstellern, geräuscharme Schmierstoffe mit höchsten Dämpfungseigenschaften zu entwickeln. Sie kann aber auch die Wälzlagerhersteller bei der Auswahl von geräuscharmen Fetten mit höchsten Dämpfungseigenschaften unterstützen. Die vorliegende ÖNORM ist primär zur Prüfung von Frischfetten gedacht.
