Das Ziel dieser ÖNORM ist es, Rahmenbedingungen für die Planung, die Genehmigung, die Errichtung und den ordnungsgemäßen Betrieb von Biogasanlagen unter Bedachtnahme auf die Qualität der gasförmigen, flüssigen und festen Endprodukte zu definieren. Diese ÖNORM legt den technischen Mindeststandard für Bio-gasanlagen (Vergärungsanlagen) zur anaeroben Verwertung und Behandlung von biologisch abbaubaren Abfällen aus Landwirtschaft, Gewerbe, Industrie und Kommunen fest (AWG 2002) fest. Sie gilt weiters für Biogasanlagen im Sinne des Ökostromgesetzes. Dabei wird auch auf die umweltrelevanten innerbetrieblichen und die Umgebung der Biogasanlage betreffen-den Emissionen und Immissionen Bedacht genommen.
