Diese ÖNORM ist für jenen Bereich der Meßtechnik anzuwenden, in dem die Aktivität einer Probe durch Zählung von Ereignissen, die durch den radioaktiven Zerfall bewirkt werden, ermittelt wird. Aufgrund der verwendeten Annahmen sind die Festlegungen dieser ÖNORM gültig, wenn die Gesamtzahl der Ereignisse größer als 10 ist. Sinngemäß ist diese ÖNORM auch bei Messungen von Größen anzuwenden, die sich aus der Aktivität ableiten lassen, und für Meßverfahren, die sich mittelbar einer Zählung der durch radioaktiven Zerfall bewirkten Ereignisse bedienen.
