Diese ÖNORM legt Verfahren zur Abschätzung der durch Freisetzung natürlicher radioaktiver Stoffe in die Umwelt bedingten effektiven Dosis für Einzelpersonen der Bevölkerung fest, wobei die Freisetzungen durch Arbeiten mit natürlichen radioaktiven Stoffen und die Beseitigung von Rückständen berücksichtigt werden. Diese Verfahren dienen insbesondere der Umsetzung der Bestimmungen der natürlichen Strahlenquellen-Verordnung in die Praxis für die wesentlichen Anwendungsfälle, z. B. Verarbeitung von Stoffen sowie Deponierung von Rückständen mit erhöhten Konzentrationen an Uran und Thorium. In dieser Norm wird die Chemotoxizität der Radionuklide (insbesondere von Uran) nicht berücksichtigt.
