Diese ÖNORM enthält ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Wassergehaltes von Leder sowohl im Anlieferungszustand als auch in der nach ÖNORM EN ISO 2418 entnommenen und nach ÖNORM EN ISO 4044 zerkleinerten Analysenprobe. Der nach dieser ÖNORM ermittelte Wassergehalt ist nur ein Näherungswert, weil einerseits bei der Trocknung auch andere Stoffe entweichen sowie Fette und Gerbstoffe oxidiert werden können, andererseits Quellungs- und Kristallwasser zum Teil zurückbleiben kann. Das Verfahren nach dieser ÖNORM ist für jede Art von Leder anwendbar.
